The Michielsen Jazz Ensemble is an authentic and powerful 18 piece Big Band that hosts a rambunctious crew of gifted musicians, which are hand selected from advanced musical professionals in the tidewater area. The Musicians have performed all over the world, throughout Japan, Europe, and the Middle East. The musicians are highly educated adamant performers who have been on numerous recording projects for movie soundtracks and Compact Disc. They have had the honor of performing for several United States Presidents and the US Congress at the White House as well as other dignitaries and heads of state around the world. They come together, retired and active military musicians, musical professors and professionals to form this eclectic powerhouse group, lead by the famous band leader and Trombonist, Mark E. Michielsen, an Iraqi war veteran, Master of Music Composition degree, who retired from the United States Marine Corps Band to this area, performing today's Funk, Rock, Jazz, Latin, big band sounds for you. Wait until you hear this band, you will not be disappointed in hiring us for your next gathering.
